To the relief of many, Obama came through in the Presidential Election last week.
For a few weeks there seemed a distinct possibility that Mitt Romney might actually win. And the idea of Romney and Miliband controlling our Western world went from being hypothetically hilarious to a potential reality.
Indeed, it was interesting in the run up to the election that political commentators talked constantly of the strengths and weaknesses of the Obama and Romney campaigns respectively. The black population was rarely mentioned as one of Obama’s assets in spite of the fact that 95% of the black vote went to Obama.
This is how the election results would have looked had only white men been allowed to vote (as in 1850, pre-15th Amendment):

Luckily for the modern world, universal suffrage meant that the election turned out like this:
